Anupam Srivastava Anupam Srivastava is the Executive Director of the “India Initiative” of the University of Georgia (UGA), and of the South Asia Program of UGA’s Center for International Trade and Security. The India Initiative draws upon the scientific and technical expertise of diverse educational and research units of UGA, and seeks to establish collaborative links with select counterparts in Indian institutions, in an effort to contribute meaningfully toward expanded Indo-US scientific, technological and economic cooperation. Dr. Srivastava teaches courses on Asia/South Asia, International Security, and Political Economy, within UGA’s School of Public and International Affairs. The teaching and research components of the South Asia program of CITS/UGA examine the contours of the regional strategic landscape, role of technology transfers, defense cooperation, and multilateral security regimes, in defining US, Russian and Chinese strategic relations with India and Pakistan. This program has received support from foundations such as US Institute of Peace, Rockefeller Foundation, John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, Ploughshares Fund, US Departments of Energy, Commerce, & US National Security Education Program. Dr. Srivastava concurrently serves as the Director for the CITS/UGA component of a multi-year collaborative project, in conjunction with University of Illinois and Carnegie Mellon University, to enhance teaching of South Asian trade and security issues at the respective institutions. He has provided policy briefings on military-technical aspects of US-South Asia relations to U.S. Departments of Defense, Energy, Commerce & State, & the National Security Council, and counter-part agencies of the Indian Government. In June 2003, he taught an advanced course on technology trade & US-India strategic relations to senior defense scientists at the Institute of Technology Management in India. He has made presentations on technology trade & strategic aspects of India’s engagement with the United States, Russia and China at numerous Indian and international forums including U.S Department of the Army, Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia Pacific, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, International Studies Association, American Political Science Association, International Society for Political Psychology, National Defense College, Defense Science Forum, and United Service Institution of India. Dr. Srivastava is co-editor of Engaging India: US Strategic Relations with the World’s Largest Democracy (Routledge, 1999). His forthcoming books include, Multilateral Non-Proliferation Regimes: Explaining the Indian Cooperation, and A New Paradigm for Russian Security: Re-calibrating Strategic Policy toward Asia. In addition, he has published widely in books, policy journals and newspapers, including Arms Control Today, Asian Survey, Comparative Strategy, Journal of Asian Business, Indian Defense Review, Access Asia Review, World Affairs, Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, Disarmament Diplomacy, Defense News, Bharat Rakshak Monitor, Rediff, Hindu. Times of India, India Abroad, Hindustan Times, Evening News, World Focus, Third Concept & Khabar.
